This natural emerald weighs at 7 carats and is surrounded by 5 carat cubic zirconia stones. The ring is sterling silver and weighs at 10.5 grams. The collector I bought this from claims this piece retails at $550. The ring is a size 9.
Upon magnification, the stone shows some gas bubbles from its inclusion. A little known fact about emeralds is that they have many flaws, and that gas bubbles are actually an indicator of the stone's authenticity. The gas bubbles can even be seen in the photos I took of the ring if you zoom in close enough.
I have also used a Presidium Gem Indicator to test for the authenticity of the stone. Like any gem tester it does not definitively tell which gemstone is being tested, but it narrows it down to a few with similar thermal conductivity. With the PGI, there is an option of choosing the colour of the stone for more accurate results. It is then up to the tester to research other qualities to identify the stone. Using the information the collector told me, I used the PGI to verify authenticity. Please see video on my instagram of the PGI test: https://www.instagram.com/p/CZDzVlyoz3b/?utm_sourc...
The ring is used and does have signs of wear. Price has been lowered due to imperfections in bezel.
